About Us

In 2025, Vivian Owen launched Third Eye Films with the goal of empowering female perspectives in the horror, thriller, and crime genres. To recognize work that moves beyond damsels in distress to exploring trauma, power, and identity through a female lens. Third Eye Films seeks to shift female narratives from victimhood to agency and feature strong, complex female characters battling internal demons, societal pressures and injustices.

Vivian Owen is an award-winning producer, director, screenwriter, and script supervisor whose work includes commercials, branded content, short films, and features. With a background in communications and advertising, Vivian started her career as an advertising agency copywriter penning ads for Fortune 500 companies such as Proctor & Gamble, Sherwin Williams, Aflac, Expedia, and Marriott. From there, she crossed over into academia and taught as a professor at Ringling College of Art and Design and Virginia Commonwealth University, where she mentored hundreds of student filmmakers from initial concept to festival submission.

As a freelance filmmaker, Vivian has worked as an executive producer, producer, line producer, unit production manager, screenwriter, and script supervisor on numerous commercials and short films that have been celebrated at festivals around the world. In 2022, she executive produced the award-winning short film Code Red, which tackled the taboo topic of period poverty. Building on the film’s social message, Vivian secured a strategic brand partnership with Walmart and Always, resulting in $50,000 worth of menstrual pad donations distributed to local schools. In 2024, she produced the indie horror feature, Saturnalia, which screened at Raindance Film Festival and Dances with Films.

She launched her own production company in 2025, Third Eye Films, and is currently focused on producing and directing high-quality genre films through her company. Her latest short film and directing debut, Do Not Rewind, will hit the festival circuit in 2026. She is also in development on several other unconventional and boundary-pushing projects, including a psychological thriller short, What Lies Ahead, and a paranormal horror feature, Occult Detective.

Rich Bailey, Producer/Director of Knock, Knock

"Vivian brings an experienced professionalism, a sharp intellect, and a talented eye to everything she does. She is that rare perfect balance of the artist you need to collaborate with and the producer can put all your trust in."

Nader Ajib, Writer/Director of Sara and Gemini

"Since working with Vivian I’ve seen tangible results not just in the projects themselves but in the recognition they’ve received. Every film she’s been involved with has gone on to be accepted into respected festivals and both SARA and GEMINI are great examples of that. Her guidance and creative insight has helped shape both these projects in ways that made them festival-ready and stronger overall. Having worked with Vivian on multiple films and having benefited from her guidance over the years, I can confidently say that hiring Vivian is not just a smart choice for the project, but a game-changer for anyone looking to grow their work and their process as a filmmaker. She’s genuinely invested in the people she works with and that makes a huge difference when hiring someone to produce your film."

Matt Skibiak, Writer/Director/Producer of Creatures

"I think it's safe to say that without Vivian, I can't imagine my project actually happening. She was instrumental in finding and rounding out the local crew, compiling and organizing paperwork and pay, catering and logistics all around. Vivian is that rare breed of person who goes above and beyond what is being asked of them. From the moment she committed she acted as if this project was HER project. She wasn't just hired for a job. She acted as if she had a vested interest in seeing this thing cross the finish line in the best possible shape."

Danny Lerch, Writer/Director of Saturnalia

"Vivian is a great producer and one of the best I have had the pleasure of working with in my 18 year career. You'd be hard pressed to find someone as dedicated as she has [been] for our project. She helped us in all aspects of prep, production, post, and helped us navigate distribution and the festival circuit to great success."

Jada Poon, Writer/Director of Code Red

"CODE RED would not have seen the light of day without Vivian’s persistence. The production was cancelled [at] the beginning of pandemic. However, because Vivian truly believed in the story and saw the necessity for it to be told, she pushed through hurdles. Against all odds, she made the production possible, on top of supporting me emotionally. From the conception of this film to production to festivals submissions and distribution, Vivian was there to guide and support. I couldn’t have asked for a better executive producer and collaborator."

Max Fischer, Producer/Cinematographer of Saturnalia

"Because Vivian took care of everything in preproduction, I was able to concentrate on the visuals and the creative side of the film. Vivian's attention to detail throughout the project was amazing. This allowed the production to run effortlessly, without the need to "put out fires." Vivian has now been part of the project for over two years. Her involvement has lead to acceptances from some prestigious festivals, as well as multiple distribution offers/deals. I can't imagine doing another project without her!"

Galen Hogan-Barden, Assistant Director of Creatures

"Trust is hard to come by and I quickly learned I could trust Vivian which meant I was free to focus entirely on running the set. We knew we would never have to settle for good enough with Vivian. We always got the best even if it meant a lot of extra work on her end. Walking away after wrap, I knew for a fact we had made a fascinating and beautiful film and Vivian had her hands on every aspect of it. You won't regret hiring Vivian. She WILL get the job done and, miraculously, she'll spare you all the usual stress."

Sheri Rinn Ward, Production Designer of Do Not Rewind and Creatures

"I've worked with Vivian on several projects recently, and she brings her incredible work ethic to every project, as she treats each one as her own. This, along with her instincts and dedication, makes her invaluable on set. She's detailed about what she wants, but trusts her crew and gives everyone the creative space to do their job. As a production designer, it's an ideal work environment. Putting trust in your work gives anyone more confidence. With her nature being open and helpful to everyone it makes her a great 'coach' on set. There's always a valuable takeaway from being on set with Vivian, whether it be insight into different crew positions or general knowledge about film making."

Milena Montero, Prop Master of Code Red, Production Coordinator of Occult Detective, Producer of Culture War

"Vivian has a remarkable ability to make things happen. She keeps projects moving smoothly while offering insightful guidance, balancing creative vision with practical solutions, and elevating films in ways that only an experienced producer can. Thanks to Vivian’s insightful festival strategy advice, our film CULTURE WAR was selected to over 10 film festivals and received recognition including a Student Emmy nomination, a Telly Award, and an NFFTY Jury Award. Vivian is simply one of the best producers I’ve ever worked with, reliable, knowledgeable, and endlessly resourceful. She makes every project stronger and every team feel supported."

Sheree Chen, Editor of Do Not Rewind

"Vivian has been one of my favorite directors to work with because she knows what she wants, is able to articulate it, and brings ideas to the table for how to achieve it. As a collaborator, it's awesome to work side-by-side with someone who has done their homework. Every moment of our collaboration felt easy and fun! "

Nicole Lederman, Producer of Creatures

"Vivian came aboard as we were gearing up to shoot and was integral in helping get the right elements and people in place to make it successful. I had to take a bigger step back, due to being very pregnant at the time, and at no point did I ever hesitate handing over the reins to Vivian. I had complete confidence and trust in her from day one. You will truly not find a better production partner/consultant to help navigate all the intricacies of shooting a film [...]."
